Our Insider Tip for MLK Day

dr_king

With Martin Luther King, Jr. Day just hours away, we thought we’d share a tip for commemorating Dr. King’s legacy during your trip to DC.  There are the obvious tourist sites, like the The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial where Dr. King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech.

But those aren’t the only spots in the city where Dr. King made his mark.  That’s why we recommend stopping by the Willard Hotel.  One of the oldest hotels in the city, the Willard has seen its share of famous visitors, including Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and, you guessed it, Dr. King himself.  In fact, Dr. King is said to have written the “I Have a Dream” speech while staying at the Willard.

Make sure to check out the beautiful lobby and head over to the the famous “Round Robin & Scotch Bar” inside the hotel.  And keep your eyes out for familiar faces, because this is still a popular spot for politicos.

For the full scoop on The Willard and its rich and storied history, book one of our tours by calling (202) 744-4809 or sending an email to [email protected].
